Marauder vs. Marlin

For anyone who knows much about me i’m i really proud Marauder. i’m also proud of my family history at our school. My parents met in our high school (awww high school sweethearts). My mom has 5 older siblings that all graduated from our school (i think anyways) and my dad had one older sister who also went there. so my moms older siblings, besides the one that’s only 2 years older, were all Marauders, which is my school current Mascott, but my parents were the Marlins(LOL fish). i was curios of why they switched to Marlins and this was the reply from my aunt.

We switched to Marlins the year I was in grade 10 and I cannot remember the exact reason but recall it was because the animal logo was less aggressive than a marauder and they did not want us to have an aggressive mascot image. It was not popular with students but teachers, parents and school board liked the change. (Merivale had an reputation for being aggressive so they thought changing the logo would help)

i’m guessing over time the students one our aggressive title back. so there’s some school history :)
